The time signature is 4/4, but a quarter of a beat (a sixteenth note) is just sort of deleted here and there. However, if you count in 4/4 cleanly without taking the missing beats into account, the downbeat of 1 will line up in its normal place every 8th measure.
I really, really enjoy this drum solo. Not only is Colauita's phrasing beautiful, but the other musicians do a very good job of providing support.
Colaiuta really is one of the best drummers alive, and he's playing here with some of his favorite musicians. Clearly, this video is one of the most monumental achievements of humanity.
